Staying kind in an unkind world

The Kind Rebellion began with a question Kate Baker could not ignore. How do we stay steady and principled in environments that reward speed, performance and certainty?

After more than two decades in frontline policing, she saw firsthand what sustained pressure can do to people and culture. Long before that, managing bars in some of the busiest city venues taught her that authority alone does not hold a room. Steadiness does. Fairness does. An open heart does. People respond when they feel seen.

For Kate, kindness has never meant simply being soft (although, softness goes a long way too). It is how tension is de-escalated, trust is built and strength is maintained without hardening.

The Kind Rebellion exists for anyone who wants to lead and live without losing their integrity along the way.

About Kate

Kate Baker spent more than twenty years in the NSW Police Force, working across general duties and criminal intelligence in high pressure operational environments. She became known for her steadiness, fairness and ability to build trust in complex situations.

Alongside frontline roles, she served in community and social service portfolios, including sexuality and gender diversity and peer support, and was publicly visible in marriage equality campaigns. Long before policing, she managed hospitality venues in fast paced city environments, where she learned that culture is shaped in small moments and leadership is felt long before it is declared.

Today, she delivers keynotes and leadership workshops across first responder organisations, community groups, nonprofit organisations and corporate settings. Her work focuses on leadership under strain, emotional regulation and cultures where accountability and empathy coexist.
